Launch: Food Lite

Yesterday we refreshed the Food Network website with a new header, sponsored links area, and footer. Similar to HG-Lite, we didn’t touch the interior of the site, and opted for the face-life approach instead.
Since the design was very similar to the previous iteration, I didn’t alter much of the code. Instead, I renamed [...]

Launch: HGTV Lite

This morning at 6:30am we launched the latest flavor of HGTV.com, internally referenced as HG-Lite. Technically we had been working on it up until a week ago, and finished the final prep work at 11pm last night.
It was fascinating to sit in on the conference calls between New Yor, our other office [...]

I need your help!

Long story short (which gets explained in the email below), I was offered an opportunity to go to WWDC by my work, but now the site is saying that it is sold out (for the first time ever!).
This is my last hope that either someone from Apple will see this blog, or someone [...]

Best schwag so far

Since Scripps has a ton of brands (Food Network, HGTV, Fine Living, etc…), we tend to get a ton of schwag floating around the office. I’ve got a super sweet HGTV visor on my monitor which will never see the light of day, and assorted random magnets on my fridge. But today, I [...]

Scripps Networks is hiring!

Sometimes they have been for the better, other times significantly for the worse, and occasionally just a blip that doesn’t even register on the average visitor’s radar.
Being the owner of a [...]

The deal with Peru

So a lot of people have asked me why I went to Peru, and my favorite answer is “why not?” The truth is that while I’ve spent extensive amounts of time in Central America, I had yet to step foot in South America. I was perusing some wall comments left by my brother [...]

In Peru until further notice

Ok. or maybe until the 14th.
Hopped a 7.5 hour flight out of JFK to Bogotá, Colombia, and then spent 8 hours waiting for the next flight to Lima. Arrived at 1am instead of the planned 4pm to meet my brother and two bellicose friends. Headed to the beach and whatever awaits us.
So [...]

change on the wind

Dear Neglected Blog:
Time and time again, I make commitments to pay more attention, to be more attentive, to simply be there for you. The ugly reality is that each and every time, I’ve failed to follow through. Not saying that this is going to change, but at least I’m aware of the problem. [...]
