Back in September I spotted something fishy over at desktoptopia, and managed to get a link from Shaun Inman. While the whole situation resolved itself quickly and easily (see: the resolution), the most interesting thing was to see the traffic commanded by a web presence like Mint’s creator.

Through my intermittent posting on this site, I’ve been averaging a whopping 20ish unique visitors a day. I’m not sure where they come from, or how they find my site, but its a reasonably steady trickle. I use Google Analytics and Mint to keep an eye on these numbers, because even though the numbers are small, I’m fascinated by browser percentages and geo location.

The day the link was posted, I received 455 unique visitors. Here’s what that looks like on a year-long graph:

Google Analytics

What’s interesting is the 2nd bump after the big spike. First hit was the scandal, 2nd is the resolution. The link was not a “big post” but one of the little microbloggings that Shaun does a couple times a day, so it got pushed down the list somewhat quickly, but I’d still say that people are more interested in drama than mending fences.

Anyway. That’s what I was thinking about today. Thanks for visiting, you unknown people. I know I’m no web-guru, but I still like that you read my dribble.

(PS: If you are a fan of layer tennis, check out the match between Inman and Glass, with a mindblowing 9th volley.)
