Via my feed reader, I came across Ricky Van Veen’s post “re-blogging” a classic Charlie Rose interview with Barry Diller, then head of USA Networks, talking about an acquisition of lycos.com.

What’s funny and not mentioned is that Ricky finds this particularly humorous because Diller is currently CEO of IAC, the company that owns CollegeHumor.com, the little webzine of which Van Veen is co-creator and editor. A little tongue in cheek, however silent.

You’ll have to forgive the out of sync audio, but it’s a totally classic time capsule of corporate America embracing the internet in it’s early days, even if the acquisition didn’t go through. And you have to love the explanation and abuse of the word “portal.”
