Apperachix? Ok, I'm calling you on that one, McCain. Somebody get out the scrabble dictionary. 2 hrs ago

After roughly 46 days (give or take), I have re-surfaced. Some of you may have wondered if I was rubbed out by an angry gang of Flash ninjas, and despite the persistent rumors, that is simply not the case. While I managed to irk some fellow ‘netizens,’ what kept me from posting is much more boring: Life got REAL hectic.

Over the past month and a half I began freelancing for a hot young design firm called DoubleYolks, moved into the Bedford-Stuyvesant area of Brooklyn, got a full time job at Playboy Enterprises, directed a short film, and turned 22. Ok, so I turned 22 like.. 6 days before my last post, but cut me some slack.

Yes, it’s true. I work for the big Rabbit. While the position is officially freelance (see: no health care), I report 9-5:30, 5 days a week to an office where I get to design and deploy cool stuff. As a part of the 4 person Marketing Art department, I make promotional websites, email blasts, flash (!!) banners, and anything else that requires a creative touch. The schedule is very rapid paced and hectic, but needless to say, my portfolio has grown more in the past month that it has in the past year. As the projects cease being live on the corporate site, I’ll be showcasing them here and might even provide a little narration to the process and techniques used to get it ready for the spotlight.

The short film/documentary/info spot/whatever you want to call it is a continuation of the work I did with Jack Carrel while in New Orleans. This time around, we had a bigger budget thanks to a CDC initiative, and were able to hire cast and crew. This past weekend we had the honor of watching photographer-extraordinaire and friend Colin M. Lenton work his magic with our two actors, and the weekend before that accomplished cinematographer James Adolphus shot the narrative portion of the project. When all is said and done, we will deliver a 5-7 minute video piece that will play in emergency rooms and health clinics across the South East, and a poster series driving attention to the HIV epidemic, aiming to lower the associated stigmas. None of this would have been possible without the combined efforts of producer Natasha Eng, writer Beau Tipton, motion graphics specialist Ben Fine, and countless other talented individuals. Thank you all for your hard work. I’ll post material and screenshots as they become ready for viewing. Update: Colin posted about the shoot here.

In other news, I’ve almost finished prepping the current theme for public release. You may have noticed that I’m not running Wordpress 2.3 on this blog, and that is because my attention has been focused on updating “Ikea” to support the new native tagging abilities. As soon as that drops, I’ll begin working on the next iteration of this website. Those eager for a design sneak peak (rough draft) should stroll over here.

There is much more to say, but I’ll save it for future posts. I know, I’m a tease. Ok, here’s a hint: I’ve got 50 invites to a hot online commodity that I’ll be giving away this week. So stay tuned!
